It was an exhilarating run-up to the highlight of the weekend: the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The drivers are preparing for the race after days of much show and full of fuss. Charles Leclerc starts the race from pole, with Max Verstappen next to him on the front row. Carlos Sainz, who actually qualified in second place, will start from 12th because of a grid penalty after having to take new engine parts.

Surprising qualifying results in the 'Gambling Capital'

The Las Vegas street circuit is by no means a technically complex track, with its long straights and sparse corners. The excitement is likely to lie mainly in how well the drivers manage to warm up their tyres and tyre management. Another interesting story to keep an eye on will be how well the surprising names in the top ten are going to hold up. How will Logan Sargeant, who will start from P6, perform in his home country and will Valtteri Bottas or Kevin Magnussen be able to surprise be able to hold onto their fourth-row positions?

Sergio Perez will be hoping to finally secure second place in the drivers' championship in Las Vegas. If the Mexican manages to finish ahead of Lewis Hamilton, the first one-two for Red Bull Racing in history will be a reality. However, Lewis Hamilton's main focus will be on getting further forward, as a tenth starting spot is not where the seven-time champion will want to be.
