There are a lot of battles between teams and drivers in Abu Dhabi, with many places up for grabs in the final race of the 2023 Formula 1 season. One of those battles is between McLaren and Aston Martin. McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has been weighing in on how the constructors' standings will finish after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Constructors' battle comes down to the final race

It's been a rollercoaster of a season for both teams. Aston Martin started the season superbly, highlighted by Fernando Alonso's six podium finishes in the first eight races of the season. However, as the season continued, the papaya-coloured McLaren came into its own and started competing at the front of the grid, which gave Piastri a Sprint Race victory in Qatar.

While McLaren improved, Aston Martin struggled to continue with their fantastic pace from the start of the season, and as a result, they were overtaken by Piastri's team. Now, they sit 11 points behind McLaren coming into Sunday.

Speaking in the drivers' press conference about the small 11-point gap between the two teams, Piastri is confident in McLaren's pace to out-perform and out-score the Aston Martin this weekend. "Yes, I think we've got the pace to be able to beat them [Aston Martin]," Piastri started by saying.

"If we go out and do what we're capable of and what the car's potential is, then we should be ok. But we still have to go out there and do our job and get the most out of what we've got. Hopefully, we can be quick, fighting well and truly at the front, and then the result will take care of itself."
