Red Bull driver Sergio Perez's statement that he would compete for the world championship did not really come true. Due to absolute dominance by Max Verstappen in his RB19, Perez did not have a huge say, apart from the first few races. That does not make the Mexican any less cautious looking ahead to next season.

When the driver with number 11 on the car is asked about the world championship again, Perez does not flinch. He wants to become champion. That is his goal for the 2024 racing season, he explained.

Perez wants to become world champion

"That [becoming world champion] is my main target, because I have already finished second," the Red Bull driver explained to GPblog and others. "My main interest is to do better, and I am aware of the challenge. We’ve got to really take this winter time to try to start the season on a high and be able to maintain that level of consistency throughout the season," said the Guadalajara-based driver.

"I'm also aware of the gaps we had, the downs we had, and I think we've learned from them. So I think that's really good and really important. That's the best way to look forward. This year has made us stronger as a group on my side of the garage, as a team. So it's been good," concluded the 33-year-old driver.
