Red Bull junior Hadjar: 'Great to drive fastest car in the world'
Isack Hadjar and Zak O'Sullivan were looking forward to this day for a long time, and it did not disappoint them. Both juniors drove the necessary miles for Red Bull Racing and Williams respectively. With big smiles, they stepped out of the car.
"Today was a really good day! It was really busy driving in F1 and F2 in the same day but it was a really good experience, it's a big step up from F2 to F1," said Hadjar after his first kilometres in the RB19. "Driving the fastest car in the world was great, it was out of this world, especially in these conditions on track."
The 19-year-old Frenchman is ecstatic, even though this was not his F1 debut. At the Mexican GP, Hadjar was already in action on behalf of AlphaTauri. There he finished seventeenth, just like this Friday in the Red Bull at the Yas Marina Circuit.
O'Sullivan
On behalf of Williams, Zak O'Sullivan stepped into the car. For him, though, it was his first real introduction to an F1 car.
"First and foremost, I really enjoyed today. It was my first time in Abu Dhabi and first time driving a Williams Racing F1 car. I made quite good progress throughout the session, getting on top of the car and the different procedures. Thank you to Williams Racing for giving me the opportunity. I can’t wait for the Young Driver Test on Tuesday, to refine some of the things I’ve learnt from FP1 and make some more progress."
