Perez wants schedule to be more efficient

Perez urges change in F1: 'Really needs to be more efficient!'

A mere 24 races in one Formula 1 season. If it is up to Sergio Perez, the schedule really needs to become more efficient. Speaking to GPblog, the Red Bull driver talks about the concerns he has, surrounding the busy schedule and his mechanics. Earlier, his teammate Max Verstappen also talked about the overcrowded calendar.

When asked if burnout among drivers has become a problem, Perez says decisively: "Yes, more than other years, for sure," the Red Bull driver told GPblog and others. "I think this last part of the season has been super intense with the travelling backwards and forwards. The amount of races is definitely at the limit, not just for the drivers, but also for all the mechanics out there," explained the Mexican from Guadalajara.

Perez worried about F1 calendar

"I think this schedule really has to be more efficient and try to look after everyone in this world a lot more," says the 33-year-old driver, who is worried about upcoming seasons in Formula 1. "And my main concern is on my mechanics," concludes Perez, who recently said he wanted to become world champion in 2024.

Perez said earlier this season that he did struggle mentally. The driver was often criticised this season, saying his performance had not been entirely satisfactory. In the end, the Red Bull driver finished second in the world championship, making him the best driver behind Verstappen.
