Verstappen on father Jos: 'Doing better than him was always the goal'
Max Verstappen has been extremely dominant this season. He won 19 races and led 1003 laps. How does Verstappen himself look back on this season? Talking to Viaplay, he answered this question.
"As a team, from my side too, we are immensely proud of what we have achieved this year. A super feeling," said the Dutchman. Over the last few laps, Verstappen secretly started reflecting on last season anyway: "I started looking around me in the cockpit. Knowing that these are the last few laps in the car. Yes, I know it's going to be difficult to experience another season like that in the years to come." Verstappen is even slightly emotional. Asked if it affects him, Verstappen replies: "More than it usually does."
Board radio Jos
Jos Verstappen came on board radio briefly and said the following: "I'm incredibly proud of you, darling. Unbelievable. Driven a thousand laps in the lead, nineteen wins. Totally top." Verstappen was also emotional about this: "I went through a lot of things with my father, and of course he also did a lot to try to get me into Formula 1. Trying to do better than him was actually always the goal together. And when you're standing here now with 54 wins and the season we went through, yes you do look back on that a little bit of course," he concluded.
