Mystery surrounding Red Bull: Which driver will use the RB19?
- Ludo van Denderen
For the 20 regular drivers in Formula 1, the racing commitments are over, but for the mechanics and the rest of the team, the holidays are over. A Young Driver Test will take place on Tuesday, in which all 10 teams will be in action. A lot of teams have already announced which drivers will be in action, but for some it is still unclear.
It is still unclear who Red Bull Racing will put in the RB19. Last weekend, Isack Hadjar and Jake Dennis were allowed to get a taste of the big time during FP1, perhaps one (or both) of them will step in again on Tuesday. McLaren has not yet appointed anyone either. The obvious choice is for Théo Pourchaire to step in at Alfa Romeo/Sauber. The rookie Formula 2 champion is the Swiss team's reserve driver.
Incidentally, the name Young Driver Test is a bit misleading. In fact, it does not necessarily require young drivers to be in action. The main tag line is: they must be drivers who did not race in a Grand Prix in the 2023 season.
