Following the departure of team boss Otmar Szafnauer and sporting director Alan Permane, Alpine's Formula 1 team has announced it is also parting ways with Daviderivio.

Davide Brivio leaves Alpine F1 team

Brivio joined in 2021 from Suzuki's MotoGP team, which has since dropped out of the top class of two-wheelers. He was given the role of Racing Director, which evolved into Director of Racing Expansion Projects, which includes the Alpine Academy. However, the 59-year-old Italian has made the choice to embark on a new adventure elsewhere and will bid farewell to Alpine's F1 team after 2023.

"It has been a proud chapter in my motorsport career to be involved in Formula 1 with Alpine. I would like to thank Alpine for the opportunity to experience Formula 1 which was my desire and also for the chance to pass on some of my experience in motorsport to its young drivers in the Alpine Academy," Brivio explained.

"I wish the team and the Academy the best in the future and I’m sure we will see many young drivers go on to achieve fantastic things in their careers. To play a small part in some of that success will certainly be something I will cherish."

Deputy team boss Bruno Famin thanked Brivio for his efforts. "His experience in motorsports has been extremely valuable, especially in the development and progression of the Alpine Academy. Davide’s wish is to leave Alpine to pursue other opportunities and we have accepted his desire by mutually agreeing to part ways. We extend our best wishes to him in his next chapter of an already impressive career in motorsports."

Return to MotoGP with Honda?

Brivio's departure is the third at Alpine this year, following Szafnauer and Permane's departure from the French team earlier this F1 season. Whether Famin will continue in his current role of interim team principal and vice-president of Alpine Motorsport in 2024 is not yet known.

Recently, rumours circulated that Brivio was planning a return to MotoGP. There, he would replace Alberto Puig as team boss of Repsol Honda, which, after an extremely successful period, has been in a deep slump since the prolonged injury to star rider Marc Marquez, who is swapping the Japanese team for Italian Gresini Ducati after this year. However, nothing is yet officially known about the possible departure of Puig or the arrival of Brivio.
