Alonso not content: 'We need to improve this next year'

Aston Martin started the 2023 season strongly. With several podiums, they were the big surprise. During the season, these performances only worsened. In the end, the team managed to secure eight podium finishes, including three second places. Still, Fernando Alonso needs more to stay satisfied.
Fernando Alonso is used to winning. With his two world titles, he does not settle for any spots outside the podium. In 2023, he was nevertheless allowed to climb the podium again several times consistently, after a long period without success.
Despite Aston Martin's success last season, Alonso indicated in Abu Dhabi to GPBlog and others that he needs more to stay satisfied. It is very important to him that the team will bring him a victory in the coming seasons.
Keep taking steps forward
"Yeah, it's going to be important because, obviously this is the first step of hopefully good progress in the team. We always said that this was like year one of Aston Martin being competitive, a lot of changes in the team, the new factory, all these things that we've been saying for a long time. So if next year we do a step back, it's going to be bad."
He believes it is important that the team continues to take steps forward. "We finished fifth in the constructors. We need to improve that next year. Fourth, third, second, whatever will be welcome. And in my case, after eight podiums this year, hopefully I can do something similar next."
