This is how Horner tries to combine his work and family life
Having children is part of life for many people. In various sports, you see athletes with children. Yet in Formula 1, having children seems less obvious. Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner does his best to balance his work and family life.
There are only three drivers with children in the current Formula 1 field. Sergio Perez has four children, Niko Hulkenberg has one and Kevin Magnussen has two. Williams team principal James Vowles recently welcomed his first child at the age of 44. With these numbers, Formula 1 drivers have fewer children on average than football players, for example.
Christian Horner doing his best for his family
Having a work-life balance seems difficult to maintain when working in F1. Team principal Christian Horner has two young children of his own. He does his best, despite the busy schedule, to give his children enough attention.
"Leaving home and leaving family is always tough for anyone that travels a lot. 2023 was a tough calendar. 2024 looks even more so, with even more races. The most important time is when you are at home with the family. You leave the phone on the sideboard. I've got a young family and that time is very precious. I try to make (the school-run) a bit of a thing, if I can get back on a Sunday evening. If I can take the children to school on a Monday morning, it is a bit of normality", he told Sky Sports.
