Alonso on the Aston Martin's areas of improvement
3 January at 18:00

Fernando Alonso could finally hope to win again in 2023. It didn't materialise, but with six podiums in the first half of the season, the Spaniard achieved more than he ever dreamed of. In the second half of the season, performances fell back. The two-time world champion, therefore, sees areas for improvement in 2024.

At the start of 2023, Aston Martin had the fastest car after Red Bull. Especially in the hands of Alonso, a lot was possible with the AMR23. However, other teams continued to develop better than Aston Martin, resulting in the team finishing fifth in the constructors' championship.

Alonso names weaknesses of Aston Martin

So, according to Alonso, consistency is key: "One of the weak points was that the car had to operate in a very narrow window. It's the same for everybody. It will be nice if we can perform always at a stable level next year. And also if we can improve the straight line speed. I think that was, in performance numbers, our weak point always a little bit too slow on the straights."
