Hamilton's producer appointed as grand marshal
Next weekend, the new film about Formula 1 will start filming at the 24 Hours of Daytona. The film's producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been chosen as grand marshal for this race.
The new Formula 1 film crew, in which Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is participating, has already filmed at several Formula 1 races. The film is reportedly going to shoot footage at several races this coming season as well.
So, after the setback of the strikes in Hollywood, filming has started again. For the shoot, filming will take place during the official sessions of the IMSA. Whether lead actor Brad Pitt himself will participate in these sessions or someone else will drive is still uncertain.
Formula One film producer appointed grand marshal
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has a big job waiting for him during this weekend, reports Daytona International Speedway. Besides being involved in the filming, he has another job. Namely, as grand marshal, he gets to kick off the 62nd race of the Rolex 24 of Daytona at Daytona International Speedway with the most magical words in motorsport. Bruckheimer calls it an honour to perform this role in the world's most prestigious sport.
What is a grand marshal?
A grand marshal is a person selected at an automobile race (e.g. NASCAR, IndyCar) by the track owner or race sponsor to be the public leader of events on race day or throughout the race weekend. They may have ceremonial duties such as giving the command to start engines, driving the pace car, waving the green flag to start the race, or presenting the trophy to the race winner.
