Sky Sports presenter denounces negativity about Verstappen: 'Ridiculous'
Sky Sports presenter Natalie Pinkham does not understand the negative reactions coming from some fans about Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing's dominant Formula 1 season in 2023. She calls such reactions "ridiculous" and thinks people should instead be happy to witness his achievements.
Sky Sports presenter denounces criticism of Verstappen
The Max Verstappen era is at its peak after the Dutchman managed to win 19 out of 22 races last F1 season and won his third world title with six races to go. However, this success was not welcomed with open arms by all fans, as was the case in the dominant era of Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton.
Pinkham expressed her disapproval at this negative attitude towards some of the greatest drivers ever. She believes such reactions are unfounded and ignore the historical significance of these dominant periods. "It's ridiculous, because I think what we do in time is we look back and we recognise that we were genuinely lucky to have witnessed that," she said at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham.
She stressed that dominant periods belong in Formula 1 and that performances like Verstappen's should instead be appreciated. "Look back at now Sebastian Vettel’s domination of the sport and then you look at Lewis and now Max and the time will come," Pinkham continued. She would, however, like to see more battles at the front. "You just want more wheel-to wheel racing and also because you know the talent is there."
