Wolff feels no resentment towards Vasseur after Hamilton switch
- GPblog.com
Toto Wolff was told on Wednesday morning that Lewis Hamilton is moving to Ferrari. The Austrian team boss will lose the seven-time world champion after the upcoming season. On Friday afternoon, Wolff already explained that he respects Hamilton's decision and there is no resentment towards Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur either, the Mercedes team boss told Motorsport-total.com.
Back in 2023, there were rumours of a possible switch of Hamilton to Ferrari. This was gossip and ultimately dismissed as Hamilton signed on until 2025. Nevertheless, something has now changed, as Hamilton has activated a clause in his contract, which means he is already leaving the silver arrows after the season in 2024 and therefore he is still going to Ferrari.
Wolff not angry with Vasseur
Wolff has always had a good relationship with Vasseur, yet he was asked if this switch of Hamilton would change that. There is no question of that, however, as Vasseur was just doing his job. Wolff also stresses that Hamilton and Vasseur have already worked together in Formula 3 and GP2: "They have known each other for more than 20 years." The Austrian therefore has no doubt that the two will have a good relationship with each other.
