Will Newey leave Red Bull Racing? 'Contract Horner and Newey is intertwined'
Accusations of inappropriate behaviour towards Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner are causing a stir just before the start of the new Formula 1 season. In fact, the team boss's departure is already being discussed and there could well be a tailwind to that.
Several stories about what happened are circulating, but it now seems to be allegations from a female colleague within Red Bull Racing. The mother company, Red Bull, have launched an internal independent investigation into the situation.
So it remains to be seen what will come out of the investigation and what the consequences will be for the team boss. Rumours are also already circulating that Horner was asked to voluntarily relinquish his position. He refused this at the time, but should the investigation actually bring serious facts to light, it is possible that the longest-serving team boss in Formula 1 will have to resign.
Horner and Newey contracts
This story could then go into a tailspin because, according to well-informed British F1 journalist, Joe Saward, it is said that Christian Horner and Adrian Newey have contracts at the team that protect each other. If one leaves the team, so could the other. This story has not been confirmed, but should Horner have to leave, the dynamics within Red Bull Racing could yet prove surprising.
