Hamilton grateful: 'The past few days have been all about love'
Lewis Hamilton is grateful for all the support he has received following the news of his sensational switch to Ferrari. The Mercedes driver has felt "nothing but love" and is setting his sights fully on the 2024 Formula One season before making the big switch.
Hamilton grateful for support
"The past few days have been all love," Hamilton wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "Thank you all. The energy and support means everything. Can't wait to start this season. 2024 is all us."
The news came as a shock to the F1 world, especially to Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff. The 52-year-old Austrian understands the seven-time world champion's choice but at the same time, states that he probably does not need to do it for the short term. For the short term, Red Bull Racing would have been the best choice, according to Wolff.
In the long term, Mercedes will win championships again, according to the team boss, but he admits that the "long-term vision" no longer matters for Hamilton, who starts his new adventure at Ferrari at the age of 40.
