Alonso could set crushing record in his 21st F1 season

Max Verstappen broke a huge list of records in the 2023 Formula 1 season with Red Bull Racing, but the Dutchman is not the only one with impressive statistics to his name. Fernando Alonso, for instance, is on his way to a very special milestone that he could reach this year.

Alonso set to drive his 400th F1 race in 2024

Alonso is at the start of his 21st season in the king class of motorsport, which is a record in itself. Moreover, this year he could reach a very special milestone: the 42-year-old Spaniard has 377 starts to his name. With 24 races in the upcoming F1 season, the tally could reach 401 by the end of the year.

The two-time world champion is already proudly at the top of the list when it comes to the most races he has participated in, but also leads the list of the most races in which he has finished in the points. There are 301 of them at the time of writing, one more than Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton. Behind that is Kimi Raikkonen with 278 finishes in a poinst-paying position.

Aston Martin will present the new F1 car with which Alonso and teammate Lance Stroll will compete in 2024 on Monday 12 February. The team made an unprecedented strong start last cand and will not only hope to repeat that, but also to compete with McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari and eventually Red Bull in the longer term.
