Aston Martin have announced they have signed former Red Bull Racing junior Jak Crawford in the Formula 1 team's Young Driver Development Programme.

Ex-Red Bull junior Crawford to Aston Martin

Crawford left the Red Bull programme at the end of 2023 after four years, during which he progressed to Formula 2. He was recently linked with Aston Martin, and that appears to be the next step for the 18-year-old American.

Ahead of his second season in F2, Crawford has switched from Hitech to DAMS, and in addition he will carry out testing and simulator work for Aston Martin. In addition to his sessions in the simulator supporting the team's racing activities, the driver will also have the chance to step into Aston Martin's AMR22 later this year.

"I am proud to take this next step in my career," said Crawford. "I cannot wait to start working with everyone – especially on the simulator where I can make a contribution to the team’s performance on race weekends. I’m thrilled to get the chance to drive the AMR22 car later this year. It is a big motivator for me to work hard and make the most of this great opportunity."
