During a shakedown at the Silverstone circuit, Max Verstappen got to drive the RB20 for the first time. No spotters were allowed, but Red Bull Racing could not prevent the first images of the car from surfacing online. Judging from the first footage and some photos, a few things stood out.

Red Bull Racing will not officially show the car of Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez until next Thursday, but the first kilometres have already been driven in it. Red Bull aare known for not giving away all its secrets on the first day, so chances are Adrian Newey and his men will still come up with a surprise here and there in Bahrain.

This is what you notice about the Red Bull RB20

Judging from the few photos and videos of the RB20, a few things already stand out. The most important - and of course expected - is that the car is quite similar in concept to predecessor RB19. As previously announced by the team, the RB20 is an evolution of the car that dominated Formula 1 for a year.

Also notable are the slots running the full length of the engine cover to the rear of the car. Mercedes had a similar concept on the 2023 car. Moreover, a small change can be seen at the front of the sidepod, allowing for greater airflow. Finally, the nose also looks longer than that of the RB19.

No doubt more modifications will come to light once Red Bull send the RB20 onto the track in Bahrain.
