Ferrari did not want to copy Red Bull directly: 'Choosing own direction'

While many teams have emphatically looked at previous Red Bull Racing designs when designing next season's cars, Ferrari have instead chosen to follow their own path when it comes to aerodynamics. A conscious choice, says Enrico Cardile, responsible for aerodynamics at the Italian team.

"We took our own direction," the Italian told the media, including GPblog. "We did a big job last year to understand what drivability meant in terms of shaping the aeromap. So the direction is our own. I'm not able to say where Red Bull, in terms of target setting, went or is going in the future. Once they find the target, we obviously scan the several options, and we found, on the current one, the best way to achieve our own targets."

Ferrari don't want to speculate about Red Bull

Every team hope to beat Red Bull Racing next season. Last season, it was only Ferrari that once beat the Austrians in a Grand Prix. That happened in Singapore, where Carlos Sainz ran away with the win. No doubt Ferrari have hopes of more wins in 2024, but whether Red Bull are beatable?

"Difficult to say. Pointless to guess if I can. Because in a few days, we will see how much we close this gap. We worked hard with very challenging targets in terms of lap time. We wanted to achieve a certain lap time improvement by providing to our drivers, a car nice to drive and robust in every condition," Cardile said.
