Formula 1 have commented on the ongoing investigation into Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner. It stressed that the sport hopes the matter will be clarified quickly in a "fair and thorough" manner.
F1 respond to Red Bull investigation into Horner
"We have noted Red Bull has instigated an independent investigation into internal allegations at Red Bull Racing. We hope the matter will be clarified at the earliest opportunity, after a fair and thorough process. We will not comment further at this time," reads F1's statement.
The investigation into Horner is ongoing, but speculation about its contents is rife in the meantime. The fire was further stoked when a rumour emerged that the complaint of unacceptable behaviour did relate to sexually inappropriate behaviour. Earlier, it was reported that it would involve "transgressive behaviour" towards an employee. Horner has denied all allegations against him.
Formula 1 and rights holder Liberty Media are said to be monitoring the matter closely and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has reportedly spoken to Mark Mateschitz, the son of Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz. With this statement, the sport seems to be putting further pressure on Red Bull to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
