Regular viewers on Sky Sports will note Croft's absence during pre-season testing. The 53-year-old is an everpresent in the Formula 1 paddock, but that isn't the case this week. Instead, the Sky Sports commentary team features Rachael Brookes, Anthony Davidson and Ted Kravitz. It's unconfirmed whether more presenters will join them over the coming days.

Sky Sports F1 are also using F1TV commentators. Half of each session will be covered by the F1TV team featuring Alex Jacques, Jolyon Palmer and Will Buxton. The Sky team will cover the other half of the season.

Why is David Croft not commentating on F1 testing?

Croft has posted on Instagram and added the location "home". The Brit has decided to stay home during the February school holiday week to spend time with his family. He confirmed he will be watching the Sky coverage and that he will head to Bahrain next week. In 2023, the Sky Sports presenters often rotated, though Croft featured at every single race. Whether that will be the same in 2024 with a 24-race calendar remains to be seen. During the winter, Croft went to the Maldives for a family holiday with his partner, Laura Bradley.
