'Ferrari approach Red Bull Racing technical staff for switch'

8 March at 20:50

Ferrari wants to take advantage of the turmoil at Red Bull Racing and hopes to take key technical staff members. It would not be the top names but the technicians just below them. And there is a special reason for this.

According to Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ferrari are on the hunt to take people away from Red Bull Racing. Things are unsettled at the Austrian racing team and Frederic Vasseur's team wants to take advantage of that. Vasseur has been working to strengthen the technical team since his arrival and is now said to have his sights set on Red Bull Racing personnel.

Why Waché and Newey are not in the picture

In this case, the technicians in question would be those in roles just below Adrian Newey (chief technical officer) and Pierre Waché (technical director). It is no secret that Vasseur would love to bring Waché to his team, but the gardening leave of a technical director is particularly long. That is why Ferrari is aiming for those just below. That way, they could get to work faster and already have an impact on the 2026 car.

In doing so, Vasseur would follow the example of McLaren and Aston Martin. McLaren recently pinched Rob Marshall from Red Bull Racing, and Dan Fallows headed Red Bull's aerodynamics department before becoming technical director at Aston Martin. Exactly who would be involved is not yet becoming clear.
