Dominant Pin creates remarkable moment after finish in Saudi Arabia
A remarkable moment in the F1 Academy. Doriane Pin won the second race in Saudi Arabia, but did not realise she had already finished. She still drove at full speed and is now being investigated by the stewards.
The second season of the F1 Academy has started in Saudi Arabia. This year, the women are supported by Formula 1 teams and also drive on the same race weekends. The first weekend was dominated by Doriane Pin, with two pole positions and also two wins.
Pin, who drives for Prema and is part of Mercedes, caused a remarkable moment at the end of the second race. After she had finished, she carried on driving, fully assuming she still had one more lap to go. Because she crossed the finish line twice, the stewards are now conducting an investigation and there is a possible chance she could lose the win.
Pin also saw the same women next to her on the podium twice. Britain's Abbi Pulling finished second twice and Dutch driver Maya Weug, racing for Ferrari, finished third twice.
