This is Marko's plan for the near future after meeting with Red Bull boss
After reports emerged about a possible suspension for Helmut Marko, Max Verstappen immediately jumped to the defence of the Red Bull Racing advisor. His words touched the 80-year-old Austrian, who hints at his near future in a conversation with Viaplay.
Marko discusses the Red Bull situation
Verstappen defended Marko once he had heard about the investigation allegedly underway into the Red Bull adviser. His words meant a lot to Marko: "There are not so many people who have such a strong character and, as you said, loyalty. I am proud and thankful for his words," the Graz-based man told Viaplay.
Marko has since spoken to Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff. "It was a good meeting," he said. Asked about his near future, he says the following: "I will be in Melbourne. All these rumours, they were not official, but it was good to clear the situation."
Yet things are still not sitting well with the Formula One team. "But in the end, like Jos said, we need some more peace in the team because we are trying to win the championship. That is quite a hard job. There will be circuits where we are not so super or not winning. That's a goal, a fourth title for Max," he continued.
All the events within the Austrian F1 team that have taken place recently around Christian Horner but now also around Marko himself are not easy for the consultant. The emotion can be seen on his race. "I don't know how many years in motor racing, very long. Especially in Formula One, if you can't stand such things, then you won't survive," he finally concluded.
