Lewis Hamilton will drive for Ferrari from 2025. The Briton himself said this was part of his childhood dream. Lewis Hamilton's father, Anthony Hamilton, says driving for Ferrari was part of both father and son's dream.
It came as a big surprise to many. After years of speculation about a switch from Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari, this year, it finally became a reality. Shortly after the mega-transfer was announced, Hamilton posted on his social media channels that it was time for him to fulfil a childhood dream of coming out in Ferrari red.
Father and son share Ferrari dream
In the paddock in Saudi Arabia, Hamilton's father confirmed to Viaplay that this is something they have been dreaming of for a long time. "Yes, [the move is] part of my dream, part of his dream. You know, it’s one of those things that when you’re a young kid, you always dream of racing for Ferrari. And we love all of the past teams, McLaren and Mercedes, but it’s the ultimate dream to be in a red car.”
The decision to move to Ferrari would have been last-minute, so Hamilton would have barely been able to inform his family before it hit the media. His father confirms, "Kind of, yes. The thing is, it’s his business. I always have an inkling that I know what’s going on, but it’s his deal and it was his decision.”
