Alpine driver Pierre Gasly has invested in a football club in his home country. The Frenchman has signed a contract with FC Versailles. The football club's aim is to bring a 100% French football club in the Paris region to the Ligue 1 or Ligue 2.

The team from Versailles plays at the third level of the football pyramid. The driver becomes third owner of the football club. The other owners, Alexandre Mulliez and Fabien Lazare, are also very keen to work with the Formula 1 driver.

Gasly proud of the contract at FC Versailles

All in all, Alpine driver Gasly is immensely happy about investing in the football club. "I am happy to join FC Versailles because I have always wanted to be active in professional football," he said. "Alexandre and Fabien (the two directors, ed.) and I share the same values, the same ambitions and the same competitive spirit, which will allow us all to move the club forward in a positive way. This is the beginning of a wonderful story. Allez Versailles!"

President of FC Versailles, Mulliez, says he is also a Formula 1 fan. "Pierre Gasly complements Fabien and myself very well. I am convinced that our collaboration will be fruitful. As an F1 fan, I know how lucky we are to have Pierre by our side. He can help us achieve all our goals."
