Sargeant forced to miss Australian Grand Prix due to Albon's crash
- GPblog.com
Logan Sargeant will not be in action at the Australian Grand Prix. His chassis has been swapped with that of his teammate Alexander Albon, meaning the American will have to watch from the sidelines to see how his team continues the weekend.
In the first free practice, Albon crashed. The Thai skipped the second free practice. After that free practice, team boss James Vowles confirmed that the car's chassis was damaged and that no spare chassis was available, meaning Albon might have to miss the rest of the weekend.
However, there was another twist to this story. Vowles was asked if Albon could use the chassis from his teammate Sargeant. The team boss then revealed that is an option for the team.
Sargeant sacrificed, Albon in the Australian Grand Prix
Williams have since confirmed that Albon will actually get Sargeant's chassis. The American will, therefore, be out of action for the rest of the race weekend in Australia. His teammate still has one more free practice session to drive on Saturday to prepare for qualifying and the race.
