Richard Verschoor thought he had won the sprint race in Saudi Arabia, but after the prize-giving ceremony and all the formalities, he lost his first place because of a technical violation to his car. The seasoned Formula 2 driver did not sit back and delivered another fine performance with his third qualifying time in Melbourne. Yet mainly afterwards, there was also attention to a little incident at the end of qualifying.

Just before Richard Verschoor went to set his fastest lap, it was clearly visible that fluid was leaking from the rear of his car. After the session, the 23-year-old driver was asked if he had noticed anything coming out of his Trident? Verschoor came up with a remarkable answer: "Well, the reason I know is because my granddad texted me if I had to pee."

Verschoor explains 'peeing'

But no, during qualifying, Verschoor had not seen it himself: "I saw the video afterwards. But that always happens when the cars get quite hot. So out of the pit lane, many people are waiting to create a gap in order to have a better warm-up procedure. The engines get over 100 degrees water temperature, and then it starts to pee a bit out of the back. But it's nothing special," Verschoor said.

Verschoor grabbed third place in qualifying for Sunday's main race. One place ahead of him is then Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who was happy to live up to high expectations for the first time. Norwegian Dennis Hauger will start the race from the pole position.
