Although the future of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit is uncertain in Formula 1, the track's management has announced a new renovation. Several parts will be revamped.

The historic circuit located in the Belgian Ardennes still has a contract with Formula 1 until the end of 2025, but an extension is not a certainty. The circuit's management announced renovations at a press conference.

Spa-Franchorchamps announces rebuilding plans

The press conference began with the circuit's 2024 calendar announcement. The board then announced they've been busy working on the track's infrastructure, including adding a kilometre of guardrail, creating new entrances, and improving water drainage with new gutters.

Alongside this, the circuit's future plans were announced. Part of the circuit will get a new layer of asphalt to provide more grip. The parking areas and associated campsite will be revised with a new layout. In addition, the old rallycross track and Ferme Foguenne will be redesigned to better serve the events. Finally, some buildings will be demolished or renovated to create more space for the paddock.

This project will take five years and cost around 40 million euros. Thanks to good management and good turnover figures in 2023, the circuit will cover these costs itself.
