Renault's Nico Hülkenberg was confirmed to be unscathed after his scary accident in Abu Dhabi, but a spokesperson did reveal that the German was "shaken up" after the incident during the opening lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Hülkenberg tried to go round the outside of Romain Grosjean in the Turn 8 and Turn 9 chicane in the opening lap, but he left the Frenchman no room. He ran into his front left wheel and quite literally took off, flipping his RS14 multiple times before coming to a halt against the barriers. Upside down.

The Hulk was taken to the FIA's medical centre on site for medical checks, but according to a FIA spokesperson, he was alright.

"Shaken up as you might expect but no injuries suspected," the spokesperson told MotorsportWeek.com.

"He will be observed for a time then released. Dramatic incident but everyone did a great job."
