After a long time in the background, Sebastian Vettel is suddenly in the spotlight. His test in a Porsche hypercar at least suggests that the four-time F1 champion is serious about a comeback. Whether that involves a permanent seat in Formula 1 remains to be seen. In any case, the German is keeping a close eye on the sport's operations.

Needless to say, the internal turmoil at Red Bull Racing has not passed Vettel by either, with the saga surrounding team boss Christian Horner being the most prominent. "Of course I still know the team, Christian [Horner] and Dr Marko very well, also from my time there," the German told Germany's branch of Sky Sports.

"But it is very difficult for me to have an opinion because you don't know what happened and what didn't happen. I think people would like a bit more transparency in this respect, but I hope with time this will all be clarified," Vettel said.

Vettel wants transparency in the sport

Transparency is the magic word here. In fact, Vettel says it is the big theme of the current times, something that goes beyond Formula 1. "I believe that processes can become visible, provided people dare to take certain steps. I think from the principle that you have nothing to hide, you should not shy away from transparency. This applies to sport in general. I think many viewers would be interested in this. But if the information were accessible, many questions could be answered on their own."

Perhaps Horner's case will soon be more transparent, as the woman who accused him of inappropriate behaviour has appealed against a decision to clear the team boss. A complaint has also been lodged with the FIA's ethics committee against Horner.
