Sainz "hopeful" he can find a seat for 2025 "sooner rather than later"
Carlos Sainz has had a roller-coaster this year in 2024, and it's only the beginning of April. After finding out he would not be racing for Ferrari in 2025, he put that behind him and started the 2024 Formula 1 season brilliantly. Now, he is speaking to the rest of the teams on the grid, searching for a seat in 2025.
Before the Formula 1 season got underway, the Spaniard found out that he had lost his seat at Ferrari for the 2025 season after the massive news that Lewis Hamilton was signed for the Prancing Horse. Along with this, he was replaced by Ollie Bearman at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix after he came down with appendicitis and required surgery, missing out on the second race of the season
Now, despite all these setbacks, Sainz has been performing superbly in the early stages of 2024, highlighted by a fantastic race win at the Australian Grand Prix while still recovering from his surgery, along with a third place in the opening race at Bahrain.
Sainz searching for a seat for 2025
Despite this fantastic start to the season, Sainz is still without a team for 2025. During Thursday's press conference at the Japanese Grand Prix, the Spaniard is still searching for a team to take him on for the 2025 season, but has said that he is "obviously taking to a few teams."
"That's what my management team and myself should do when I don't have a job for next year yet! So, yes, we're talking to pretty much all of them. It's just a matter of obviously going more into detail and seeing the more realistic options, and finding out what are the best options for me and my future, which I don't have any news for you or anything to say here today."
Sainz did have one thing to add about this process: "The only thing I would say is that, yes, obviously it's time now to speed up a bit, and, hopefully, we can get it sorted sooner rather than later."
