Vasseur happy with strategy: 'Sunday went very well'
Fred Vasseur cannot believe his luck at Ferrari. Ferrari, long known as the team that was very weak strategically, showed once again in Japan the contrary.
"Honestly, I think that everything went very well on Sunday. Strategy was the good one for the first car, depending on the position on track. Tyre management was under control, the pit stop went well, the pace was OK," Vasseur began after the race. He continued: "It means that we had a good Sunday, and if we have to change something, it's more the Saturday that we have to improve than the Sunday. But it was a good job and a good teamwork."
Tyre management Ferrari
The track at Suzuka is known to be very hard on the tyres, the Ferrari team seemed to have this under control just fine. Fred Vasseur thinks this means the team is heading in the right direction: "We were able to do the fastest lap in Jeddah and Melbourne. It was almost the case today for one tenth, I think. And I think we did a very good step forward on this one. We improved a lot on our weaknesses and we improved massively on the tyre management, drivers, strategy and the team."
Ferrari's team is having a great start to the season. They are well clear of the number three and are just 21 points behind Red Bull. Last year, they finished third three points behind Mercedes.
