Perez expects to make a Red Bull contract announcement soon
Sergio Perez thinks he will have clarity on his future at Red Bull Racing in a matter of weeks. The coveted seat next to Max Verstappen is a big topic of conversation in Formula 1, especially in view of next season. Perez's contract expires at the end of the current season, but if it is up to the Mexican, he will extend.
Perez expects to have more clarity on situation at Red Bull soon
Perez expects to have more clarity on his future at Red Bull soon. "I think things are moving along earlier than I'd like to. I think given how the whole market is, we're going to be making decisions fairly quickly. I expect to know my future in the coming weeks because everything is moving quite fast. So I think it's important not to wait for too long."
One Formula One driver who recently extended his contract is Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard announced a week ago that he will race for Aston Martin for two more seasons after this season. This means the 42-year-old driver will still be active in Formula 1 at 45. Something Perez can only respect.
Perez on Alonso
"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Fernando. Not because he can drive until he's 45 or 50. It's the level of motivation that he has for the sport after so many years. I think drivers can go as long as they want. There is no physical limitation," Perez said.
"There are so many races. Formula One really takes a lot out of your life. You give everything to the sport. To do it for so long, it's something that I have huge respect for. It's a great combination, with Honda joining in 26 and Aston Martin," concluded the driver from Mexico.
