Perez explains why he did not finish second at Chinese Grand Prix
Sergio Perez failed to get the maximum result in the Chinese Grand Prix. The Mexican finished third, behind Lando Norris. After the race, the Red Bull driver explains what cost him second place.
For a long time, it looked like Perez was going to finish second. Verstappen's teammate's position in P2 was stable until the safety car, but the first safety car forced him to make a stop to avoid losing any more places. In the end, the Mexican did not move beyond P3.
Perez reacts Chinese Grand Prix
"It really cost us quite a bit unfortunately we got the Safety Car and lost two places. We did most of the lap on the hard and fighting like that in the early laps, the life of the tyre goes off dramatically but at least we got onto the podium. But it would have been good to be one and two," Perez stated after the Chinese Grand Prix.
The number two in the championship also says he lacked some speed at times: "Especially on the medium compound, we struggled a bit with the balance. We changed a lot from yesterday to today, so we didn't read the conditions as perfectly as we could. But overall it was a strong weekend and we understand the reasons today why the race pace was a little down."
