Disappointing Formula 2 test session for Antonelli
The Formula 2 test days in Barcelona are over. For rising star Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the final result was somewhat disappointing. With a seventeenth place on the first day and a thirteenth place on the following two days, things did not seem to go as hoped for the PREMA Racing driver.
Formula 2 test days come to an end
The 17-year-old Italian has been in the spotlight ever since his jump from FRECA to Formula 2, where he is considered a rising star. Rumours are growing that the young driver could replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, putting significant pressure on him. The results of the Barcelona test days are certainly not helping to ease this pressure.
Campos Racing's Isack Hadjar closed the final day of testing with a lead of 1.392 seconds over Antonelli. A distance of 0.410 seconds followed his teammate Josep María Marti. MP Motorsport's Franco Colapinto complemented the top three. Victor Martins of ART Grand Prix and Oliver Bearman of PREMA Racing completed the top five.
The morning of the test day was marked by four red flags caused by on-track incidents involving the cars of Amaury Cordeel, Roman Stanek and later Joshua Durksen.
The final red flag was caused by Paul Aron going off track.
