FP2 Results Formula E | Replacement for Sam Bird, Nyck de Vries back on top
Monaco's iconic street circuit is the setting for this weekend's E-Prix of, of course, Monaco. Earlier in FP1, Mitch Evans was the quickest ahead of Robin Frijns and Nick Cassidy, and the top two drivers remained unchanged during FP2.
It was a fairly quiet practice session in Monaco. After the start, which was slightly later than planned, all drivers have driven their first laps. Evans and Cassidy of Jaguar Racing are then in first and second place after ten minutes. A little bit of overshoot from McLaren's Barnard leading up to the final chicane on the track. But the F2 driver, who is replacing the injured Sam Bird, kept the car neatly out of the crash barrier.
Mahindra Racing driver De Vries finished in P9. The Dutchman already knows the track well, of course from his first Formula E adventure and last year, he also finished 12th at the Monaco Grand Prix.
After Sergio Sette Camara had some issues and he needed to stay in the pit lane, De Vries' teammate, Edoardo Mortara placed his car in P1 ahead of the final run. Then, it was Mitch Evans set a lap time eight tenths quicker than the Swiss driver, and went onto finish in P1 similarly to FP1, while Mortara crashed in Turn 1 and broke some parts of his car, but only to an extent that Mortara was able to bring his car back into the pit lane.
