Vasseur has one problem: 'Verstappen, then the rest'
Max Verstappen looks set to become World Champion in 2024. But behind the Dutchman, things are very tight. Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur believes that is the case.
Verstappen already stands at a whopping 110 points in 2024, putting him an entire race win ahead of his teammate, Sergio Perez, who has not challenged the three-time World Champion. The other teams cannot get close to the Dutchman either. Third place in the championship, Charles Leclerc, is already 34 points behind Verstappen. Behind the Monegasque is the rest of the competition.
Verstappen a problem for Ferrari
These are challenging times for Ferrari, which, at the moment, falls short of competing for championships, which Vasseur has come to realise, he told F1TV: "It's from the beginning of the season. I have a problem that you can consider Max apart."
The Ferrari team principal continued: "But behind Max, it's very, very tight. I think on the qualifying, you had six or seven cars in one-tenth. And for details, you can start from the first row or from P9. That means that we have to avoid predicting and forecasting and just focus on the job and to do a better job than this weekend."
