Rumours have been circulating for some time about a possible departure of Newey at Red Bull Racing. The British chief technical officer is said to be unhappy with the power struggle within the team, along with his own role at the Austrian tea,. Newey has been asked to focus on the RB17 hypercar project, but he does not want this, as his passion still lies with Formula 1.

The statement should also reveal details of the separation. Newey has a contract until 2025, with a further period after that in which he may not work for another Formula 1 team. It seems the British mastermind has agreed with his current team on a contract termination, meaning he will be allowed to leave earlier and thus start working for a new employer earlier.
