Is Hamilton already focused on Ferrari in 2025: 'We talk regularly'
Lewis Hamilton has promised his energy is going towards the current Mercedes project despite his Ferrari adventure coming up on the horizon. However, Brit has admitted to regularly talking to Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur and chairman John Elkann.
Hamilton still has 19 races to go with Mercedes, but talk about his move to Ferrari has intensified after Adrian Newey and Red Bull announced they will part ways in 2025. During the press conference in Miami, Hamilton was asked about the potential of Ferrari signing Newey.
Full focus on Mercedes
Hamilton is currently experiencing his worst start to a Formula 1 season yet. In the World Championship, he has scored 14 points less than teammate George Russell. Aside from the Williams drivers and Lance Stroll, he is the lowest-placed driver using a Mercedes engine. But Hamilton is committed to making sure Mercedes improve in 2024.
"I continue to have a good relationship with John [Elkann] and Fred [Vasseur], so we speak regularly, but I'm not actually in touch with the team. I observe from afar, but the full focus is on how can we beat them right now? How can we win? So that's where all my energy is going," Hamilton said.
Hamilton will compete in the Miami Grand Prix this weekend, but he should expect plenty more questions about his future at Ferrari and potentially working with Newey in the future.
