How many wins for Lando Norris wins in Formula 1
23 September at 14:30

Lando Norris has three wins in his Formula 1 career. The British driver won his first race on behalf of McLaren in May 2024. Norris won the Miami Grand Prix in the United States, which ignited party scenes within the paddock. He also dominated the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, and the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix.

Norris finally gets his first win

Lando Norris can now call himself a winner in Formula 1 after beating Max Verstappen in the Miami Grand Prix. The British driver benefited from a timely safety car, but McLaren's strong pace in the United States should not be denied. Fitted with upgrades, Norris pulled away from Verstappen after the safety car restart to secure his first Grand Prix victory.

A safety car caused by Logan Sargeant and Kevin Magnussen provided a cheap pitstop for Norris when the other front-runners had already pitted. After that Norris, who started from P5, took control of the race. Verstappen attacked at the safety car restart but couldn't move within the DRS range.

In his 110th Grand Prix, Norris eventually claimed a P1 on a Sunday. The 24-year-old has also lost the record for the most podiums without a victory. He became the first British driver to win since George Russell in November 2022.

Norris near miss

Norris looked likely to win the 2021 Russian Grand Prix, but the Brit refused to pit when the rain came during the closing stages of the race. That meant he was left out on the wet track on slick tyres. Norris eventually finished seventh, nearly 1.5 minutes behind winner Lewis Hamilton.

Before getting his first win, Norris secured 15 podiums across his five years racing within Formula 1 with McLaren. His highest race finish included 2nd place which he had successfully secured eight times before his first P1. He claimed his first podium in 2020 after finishing 3rd in the Austrian Grand Prix. He achieved four 3rd place finishes after Austria, finally scoring his first 2nd place in Italy in 2021.

During 2021, Norris achieved four podiums, compared to just one in 2022. In 2023, Norris racked up an impressive seven podiums across the season. This season, he has secured his first in China, after finishing second in the Grand Prix and has now won a race. He added another victory to his name at Zandvoort. The Brit won the race by over 20 seconds and made a statement for the rest of the season.
