Lewis Hamilton knows exactly how Lando Norris felt on Sunday. In a grey past - we are talking 2007 in Canada - the British driver himself won his very first Grand Prix, also with McLaren. In Miami, the seven-time world champion, who himself had a difficult day with his Mercedes, saw his compatriot Norris take his very first win of his career.

Hamilton was happy for Norris, he revealed in the Miami paddock. "Firstly, I had my first win with McLaren, I'm really happy to see McLaren back up there, I think Zak [Brown, CEO of McLaren] and the whole team have done an amazing job. I was with them from 13 years old, so I'm so happy. He's still a big part of my heart there, so I'm really happy to see him get back at the top and also dethrone the Bulls."

Hamilton and Norris maintain good relationship

The seven-time world champion continued, "And then for Lando, I know Lando quite well, decent relationship, I know what’s like to have that first Grand Prix win, how special it is. So I couldn't be happier for him. I really hope that he's able to appreciate the moment and enjoy it, because it's a big thing."

It took 110 Grands Prix for Norris to achieve it, having been on the podium 15 times before. With this win, Norris managed to climb to fourth place in the championship standings. He is 53 points behind leader Max Verstappen.
