Red Bull also defeated in pit lane Miami: Ferrari fractionally faster
- Corwin Kunst
Over a fortnight ago in China, Red Bull Racing not only recorded victories with Max Verstappen in the sprint race and Grand Prix, the stable was also fastest in the pit lane. This time, the Austrians had to make do with just a sprint win, as on Sunday the team was trounced on the Miami circuit by Lando Norris and in the pit lane by Ferrari's pit crew.
No, Sergio Perez's pit stop was not bad at all in the Miami Grand Prix. Just 1.95 seconds was all Red Bull mechanics needed to change the reigning world champion's four tyres. That put them close to the fastest season time they had set themselves at the Shanghai International Circuit (1.90 seconds).
However, Ferrari's men were a fraction of a second faster in the pit lane last weekend. Leclerc was able to resume his way after a 1.94-second pit stop. With that pit stop, the Italian team is now second in the top-ten fastest best pit stops. Red Bull Racing further put the remaining nine spots in this top-ten.
Red Bull pit crew almost unbeatable this year
In the pitstop rankings, Red Bull Racing stands at a lonely height. The Milton Keynes-based team has already collected 208 points in six Grands Prix, while Ferrari has to make do with 111 points in second place. Behind them, we see McLaren back with 79 points. Mercedes boasts 65 points.
