Mortara surprises everyone with pole for Berlin E-Prix

Edoardo Mortara has secured pole position for the Berlin E-Prix against the odds. With this, he picks up the first points for Mahindra in 2024.
In Group A of qualifying, Mortara already came out well. The Swiss set the fastest time of the group. Pascal Wehrlein, Jean-Eric Vergne and Jehan Daruvala also went through. From Group B, Lucas di Grassi, Maximilian Günther, Stoffel Vandoorne and Sergio Sette Camara made it to the quarter-finals.
In this quarter-final, Mortara had to face Daruvala. He was two-tenths faster than the former Formula 2 driver. Vergne beat Wehrlein, and Vandoorne eliminated home driver Günther. Sette Camara was faster than Di Grassi.
In the semi-final, Mortara was up against Vergne. It made a tenth of a second difference, but the Swiss kept his cool, making it to the final. Vandoorne also made it to the final. He eliminated Sette Camara.
Surprising pole for Mortara in Formula E
Things were exciting during the final, as a pole position for Mortara would mean Mahindra would take their first three points of the season. Vandoorne was beaten by a difference of 0.267 seconds.
