Lando Norris secured his maiden win at the Miami Grand Prix, after 110 races. Nevertheless, he is keeping a level-head. Speaking on ITV's This Morning, he shares how it felt to secure his first win, and why he thinks it won't be possible to do that every weekend, unlike Red Bull

Since 2023, Red Bull have dominated each weekend, with only two drivers being able to make it to the top step of the podium ahead of either Max Verstappen or Sergio Perez. Those two drivers include Carlos Sainz, who won in Singapore 2023, and Australia 2024, and Lando Norris, who won in Miami earlier this month.

For Norris, this was his first win in Formula 1. Speaking to the show hosts, he explained that whilst he may be a race winner now, he isn't going to change how he tackles a race weekend. "I woke up one day now, and I'm a race winner, but in terms of how I approach things, I'm not going to approach things any differently. It's just, I know what that feeling's like, and I've not had that feeling for a very, very long time. So, we're on a good roll," Norris said.

'It's not something we can achieve every weekend'

Norris' win also confirmed for McLaren that the ten upgrades they introduced to his car were successful. Yet the British driver doesn't believe it will mean they are able to win every weekend, like Red Bull has predominantely done: "Things are improving, and we still need to improve more before we can do this every weekend. It's definitely not going to be a one-off, but it's not something we can achieve every weekend."

"Some weekends, the car will feel great, and you're confident, you can push. The next weekend is maybe a bit too twisty for you, and it's not quite so good, but that's the way of sport," he added. Nevertheless, the team are confident for the upcoming Emilia Romagna Grand Prix given it is likely to favour their car more, and they will have the full set of upgrades on both cars.
