Fernando Alonso causes red flag at Imola during FP3
- Estéban den Toom
Fernando Alonso caused a red flag during the third free practice session for the Imola Grand Prix. The Spaniard came off the kerbstone, losing his car. The Aston Martin skidded and Alonso slid backwards off the track. "Sorry mate," the 42-year-old driver told his engineer over the board radio.
In a session where not much seemed to be happening so far in terms of slips, a sudden red flag came after 25 minutes of racing. Alonso had no grip in the corner, causing him to slide across the gravel towards the wall. "I'm OK," the driver let us know via board radio. Yesterday, Alexander Albon already caused a red flag during the practice session.
GPblog reports from the circuit that "Alonso is ok and back in the paddock after being cleared at the medical centre."
