'Bottas in talks with Williams for seat next year'
- Sandy van Wijngaarden
Valtteri Bottas does not yet have a contract for 2025. With the arrival of Nico Hulkenberg at Stake F1 team and possibly Carlos Sainz, the Finn has to make way. The 34-year-old has no plans to leave Formula 1 just yet. He has been spotted in front of another team's motorhome.
From 2010, Valtteri Bottas was a reserve driver for the Williams team until he was allowed to work there as a full-time driver from 2013. After several podiums with Williams, he left for Mercedes from 2017. There he managed to achieve his greatest successes. Having to make way for George Russell in 2022, the Finn left for Alfa Romeo, the current Stake F1 team.
Bottas in conversation with James Vowles
With Nico Hulkenberg confirmed as a driver for Stake F1 and then Audi, only one seat remains vacant at that team. It seems Bottas is not the preferred candidate for Audi, so he must look elsewhere. In Imola, the Finn was spotted leaving Williams' hospitality occasion.
According to Autosport.com, Bottas had a 15-minute meeting there with Williams team principal James Vowles. Alexander Albon was recently confirmed as Williams driver for several more years. Logan Sargeant's seat is still vacant and finding a replacement for the American is expected. So it could just be that Bottas will return to his former team.
