For the eighth time in a row, Max Verstappen will start a Grand Prix from first place. It certainly did not go easy during qualifying for the race in Imola. On the weekend when Red Bull Racing did not seem to have its act together, Verstappen still managed to get that little bit extra out of his car, resulting in the ultimate reward. What does the rest of the grid look like? You can find out in the provisional grid for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

After Verstappen, Oscar Piastri set the second-fastest time, but the McLaren driver will not start from the front row on Sunday. For unnecessarily getting in Kevin Magnussen's way, the Australian was given a grid penalty of three spots. That means he will have to start the race from fifth on the grid. Lando Norris moves up to second place as a result. The winner of the previous race in Miami thus again has the prospect of the overall victory.

Negative outliers were also there: for instance, Sergio Perez did not manage to get his Red Bull into the top 10. The Mexican slid into the wall in FP3 and saw his car patched up by his mechanics, but could not reward that hard work by his people. Perez will start 11th. Yet the biggest loser of the day was Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard also crashed earlier in the day, but even his car was ready in time for qualifying. In it, the Aston Martin driver failed to make a mark. Alonso will start from second last place.
