Norris confident in fighting Red Bull "We are in the mix"
Ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Lando Norris remains optimistic after McLaren closed the gap to Red Bull, with Norris taking the win in Miami, and finishing just seven tenths behind Max Verstappen in Imola.
Speaking at McLaren's Senna tribute livery launch to Sky Sports F1, Norris said, "It's nice to know it wasn't an easy one for him [Max Verstappen]. It's about time someone put him under pressure and he felt a bit of nerves again because I'm sure he hasn't felt it in a while."
Norris continued on, "We aren't overconfident, that's never been me. We want to come into races now and feel confident in racing against the Red Bull and Ferrari because we are in the mix with them."
Norris aware of the challenge
"It’s one of the most challenging weekends on the calendar," Norris said before coming to Monaco: "It’s not the easiest track to overtake, but qualifying here is one of the most exciting challenges in motorsport. It's all about hitting the ground running and building confidence right from FP1.
"It felt good to be able to fight for the win in Imola, so we have so much potential moving forward. Monaco will also be a special race for us as we will be racing in a tribute livery to Senna. It looks amazing, and I can’t wait to race around this special track in it."
Norris has one previous podium in Monaco, finishing the 2021 Grand Prix in third, with Verstappen winning the race that year and Carlos Sainz second.
